Emotional Justice Book Launch

A Road Map for Racial Healing

Conversations with Voza Rivers, Executive Producer New Heritage Theatre Group and Author Esther Armah

"This stage is a story... Harlem's Dwyer Cultural Center The story of this stage is one of mentorship, support, affirmation, creativity, community, hilarity. It’s a story of all four of my plays, produced by New Heritage Theatre Group and the truly wonderful, Voza Rivers. My last time on this stage was in 2011 for my fourth play, SAVIOUR? – starring Michael Green (who came to the book launch) and Jimmy Aquino. It was a performance followed by a panel, which included Lynn Nottage, Zerlina Maxwell, with moderation from Marc Lamont Hill and special guest Cornel West. The plays would shape the working of my organization, The Armah Institute of Emotional Justice, of using theatre as a tool for connection, an entry point to hold hard conversations, and stay. This is a New Heritage Theatre Group appreciation post. Having my book launch event on this stage is a story of homegoing, of gratitude, of centering global Black community, of that good global Black love.- ESTHER ARMAH
